Adopt-A-School Program: Fostering Education and Environmental Stewardship
Anaheim Angels Foster Literacy and Sustainability Through Adopt-A-School Program
Each year, the Anaheim Angels Baseball Foundation collaborates with the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) and program sponsor Orange County Waste and Recycling (OCWR) to select five elementary schools to adopt for the season. This initiative highlights schools committed to green initiatives and waste diversion education among teachers, students, and families.
This year, Angels player Jo Adell visited three local Orange County elementary schools, engaging with students and promoting literacy, STEM programs such as EcoChallenge, and mental wellness. The visits included inspiring school-wide assemblies where students learned about the values of education and environmental stewardship. Students who excelled in the EcoChallenge curriculum throughout the year were rewarded with tickets to an Angels game, recognizing their hard work and dedication to environmental education. Additionally, each school received a $2,000 grant from the Angels Baseball Foundation to support their programs, ensuring the impact of these visits extends beyond the event.
A heartfelt thanks to the staff and students of Linda Vista, Paularino, and A.E. Arnold Elementary Schools for their enthusiastic participation and warm welcome!
